Our Meet the Staff series continues. This time we asked our newest event coordinator to introduce himself.
Name: Ian Finch
Position: Event Coordinator
How would you describe the job responsibilities of this position?
When off campus clients would like to reserve space on campus I coordinate their event and reserve the space for them. I also create the contract, estimate, and serve as the liaison between the client and the campus facility managers.
What does your typical day on the job consist of?
Interacting with my clients. Making sure they’re happy and being provided the service they deserve. Also speaking with facility managers to make sure they can accommodate what the client would like for their event.
What do you like the most about your job?
Working with so many different people. It’s interesting to see all the types of events that come on campus and I enjoy helping make the process of it all easier on the client. I also enjoy seeing an event go well and knowing that the client leaves campus viewing UC Davis as one of the most prestigious schools in the country.
When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
I play softball for a city team every Monday with a group of friends. I also love hiking, camping, and exercising.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
Pay off my student loans! Then travel the world, buy a house, buy my dream car (1965 Ford Mustang), and give some chump change to family and friends.
